This is a special chair use by radiology groups to help position patients for spine imaging. An imaging technologist had used a spine chair made by Bionix in Toledo Ohio. She wanted something similar but there were some problems with the Bionix design for her application. We got to see the original chair and discussed it with a team of imaging technologists.
They gave us a list of what needed to be changed for it to work for them, such as to be able to back the chair against a wall mounted image panel. We were able to redesign the back pivot and latching to achieve what they needed. The original Oakdale design accomplished all the requirements.
Following a design review we then simplified the design using sheet metal to reduce the part count by 75% and improve the pivot latch system for simpler operation.
These chairs are in use today.
