The Quality Control Inspector maintains quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products; and recording quality results. To do this work, the Inspector reads work orders and blueprints; programs and operates the coordinate measuring machine and other electronic inspection equipment and software; chooses and uses measuring tools (including second checks with additional tools as needed); handles/moves material, tools and equipment; troubleshoots issues;
recommends adjustments to be made; and ensures that materials, in-process work, and vendors meet required specifications. This work requires a high degree of attention to detail and precision coupled with diplomacy, as the Inspector uses informal authority to halt work when necessary so that adjustments can be made.
